Haverlah Ranches has been in the registered and commercial cattle business since 1960. The original operation was located in Wilson County, Texas and moved to its present location outside of Cherokee, Texas in 1983.
Angus cattle have always played a significant role in our business. Ranch founder William Haverlah, started a registered Angus herd in the 1960’s. Utilizing these same cows, we bred our way into the registered Brangus business by the late 1970’s. The 1980’s brought about another change as we decided to go commercial with the entire operation. In 1995 Steve Haverlah took over day to day operations of Haverlah Ranches. It was at this time Haverlah Ranches began to use Angus bulls on the commercial Brangus herd, with the idea of feeding out steers and selling them on the grid. It was during this time period that we became convinced that the Angus breed showed the most promise for future improvement in carcass performance. I suppose you could say we took a 25 year journey and found that where we started with registered Angus, was where we needed to be.
In 2006 we made a decision to commit fully to a top end Registered Angus operation. Jed Tedder came on board as Ranch Foreman and we began building what we believe will be one of the top Angus herds in the country. Our base herd has a tremendous start, as it is being built in its entirety from the Bradley 3 Ranches Angus herd. The Bradley’s have been raising quality Angus cattle for over 50 years, and have become renown for being innovative and forward looking.
We at Haverlah Ranches are excited about our future and believe that the cattle we produce will be “Difference Makers” in your herd.
