Please see the following statement provided to us from The Nature Conservancy regarding the 2021 Season for the Eckert James River Bat Cave.
The Nature Conservancy values the community’s support as we continue to steward Eckert James River Bat Cave—home to the millions of Mexican free-tailed bats that we care for so deeply.
We’ve been listening to and researching guidance from the Center for Disease Control and public health experts and are taking extra precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Due to the pandemic, Eckert James River Bat Cave will be closed to the public this 2021 season. The health and safety of the community—and the wildlife that we protect here—is our highest priority. Thank you for understanding; we hope to host bat tours here next year (2022). We remain dedicated to providing safe viewings at the cave for Texans to enjoy in the future.
