Mason County Llano River Duck Race Thursday, July 2nd

Don’t forget to buy your lucky ducks this week, because the duck race is moving forward! The first annual Mason County Llano River Duck Race will be held Thursday, July 2nd, 2020 at the James River Crossing at 6:30 PM. This is a new fundraiser for the local Chamber of Commerce where 200 rubber duckies will be let loose on the Llano River to race 100 yards! Volunteers will be in place to help the ducks stay on course and to catch them all before floating permanently downstream. NO LIVING DUCKS WILL BE USED OR HARMED IN THE MAKING OF THIS FUN NEW TRADITION. First place will receive $1000.00, second place $500.00, and third place $100.00 in the form of a prepaid card. Rubber ducky tickets are $25.00 a duck and available to purchase at the Chamber of Commerce office, Mason Bank, and The Commercial Bank. All proceeds will go to the Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center’s efforts to maintain and grow our Roundup Weekend and Wild Game Dinner. Both are well attended annual events that help provide business for our locals! While we hoped to live stream the event, many of in our community can confirm the lack of cell service will make it near impossible. However, immediately following the race video footage will be posted on Facebook and streamed locally at Willow Creek Café & Club and Lea Lou Co-Op. Spectators are welcome, but we ask to cautiously maintain social distancing and keep our river area clean.

Stay strong and healthy Mason, Texas, we will see you on the river! #shoplocal #shopmasontx
