MASON COUNTY’S 55TH ANNUAL ROUNDUP WEEKEND

The Mason County Chamber of Commerce and the Mason Rodeo Association cordially invite you to come celebrate the 55th Annual Roundup Festival and Rodeo!

To kick off this weekend long celebration, Dennis and Karen Townsend, with the support of Mason Bank and The Commercial Bank, will be sponsoring Mason County Team Roping on Thursday, July 11th. Books close at 6:30 PM, roping begins at 7:00 PM. For more information, please contact Dennis at (325) 456-8635.

On Friday July 12th, the Mason Rodeo Association will host the 4-D Barrel Race beginning at 7:30 PM at the Fort Mason Park Rodeo Arena. There is no charge to watch this tough competition! The Roundup Goat Roping will begin their books at 4:30 PM and begin roping at 5:00 PM. Cost to participate is $10.00 a person and $20.00 a team. Proceeds for the Goat Roping will go to the Mason County Livestock Show and EXPO.

Friday night, July 12th, get a taste of the upcoming rodeo performance from the Tanner Sparks Band. They will be opening for Gary P. Nunn, who is retiring this year, at Lea Lou Co-Op. Enjoy one of Mason’s favorite musicians one last time!

Saturday, July 13th is a day packed full of entertainment beginning with the Arts & Crafts Festival at 9:00 AM on Mason’s historic courthouse lawn! The 55th Annual Roundup Parade will begin at 10:00 AM. All parade entries will Check-in/Sign-up at 7:30 AM on Post Hill Street between the Mason County Jail and Hill Country IT Services. Look for the Check-in table next to the jail. Judging for the parade begins at 9:00 AM!

Cowboys and cowgirls, ages 3 to 9 “saddle up” and get ready to ride! The 6th Annual Stick Donkey Races will begin immediately after the parade on the northwest corner of the Courthouse Lawn. Ribbons will be given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each age division as well as a special prize for the most creative stick donkey! We are also including two more races this year, the 3-Legged Race and a good old-fashioned Sack Race!

We are excited to announce the 1st Annual Texas Icons Car Show, this fun new tradition will be located north of Mason’s Square in the First United Methodist Church parking lots! Signup sheets are available through the Chamber of Commerce or Texas Icons, so bring your classics and hot rods to Mason, Texas! All vehicles are welcome and encouraged to participate in the parade prior to competition! Competition begins at 11:00 AM or after the parade, and winners will be announced at 1:30 PM.

Enjoy live music featuring The Sieker Band on the historic Courthouse Lawn from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM. Alpha Beta Psi will host the Queen’s Court Pageant, beginning at 2:00 PM on the north side of the courthouse. The crowning of the Queen and Duchesses will be held in conjunction with the rodeo beginning at 7:00 PM at the park rodeo arena.

Don’t forget to stroll Mason’s Historic Square, and support our local fire department, restaurants and shops! From 11:00-5:00 PM there will be a local wine tasting room at the Hofmann Building, 220 Fort McKavitt Street, featuring Parr Vineyards, Robert Clay Vineyards, Fly Gap Winery, and Murphy Creek Cellars. Several establishments like Nell’ Antiques & Vintage, The Thing Is Boutique, Treasures on the Square, and more will be participating with sales and special events during Roundup Weekend, so be sure to stop by!

The Mason Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting their annual Washer Pitching Tournament again this year! Registration begins at 11:30 AM in the Community Building at the Fort Mason City Park. Games begin at 2:00 PM! for more information contact Brandon 325-347-7440 or Brandy 325-347-7455.

Please join the Mason Rodeo Association for the Cadillac Rodeo Company Production on Saturday, July 13th, 7:00 PM located at the Fort Mason Park Rodeo Arena. Renowned rodeo clown, Leon Coffee will provide the entertainment during the performance. Want to ride a mutton at the rodeo? Go by Mason Bank to pre-enter! Pre-entries will cost $10 and $15 if you enter at the rodeo.

Beginning at 9:00 PM there will be a dance at the Fort Mason Park Dance Slab featuring The Tanner Sparks Band. Discounted pre-sale tickets for the rodeo and dance will be available at the Mason County Chamber of Commerce and Mason Bank!
