Texas singer/songwriter Darden Smith will perform at the Odeon theater in Mason, Texas Saturday October 21 at 7:00PM. Smith has been sharing his music for 30 years. From across the USA and around the world, from late night TV to stage and screen Smith has garnered a following that continues to beg for more. In the 1990’s he landed hits on the pop charts when he released Trouble No More, best known for “Midnight Train” and “Frankie and Sue” and Little Victories which included the Top Ten pop single “Loving Arms”.
In addition to fifteen critically acclaimed albums, Smith continues to break new ground using the craft of songwriting in education, entrepreneurship, and in service to others. Darden Smith is the Founder and Creative Director of Songwriting With Soldiers and is responsible for bringing together the perfect blend of artists to work with our veterans. Songwriting With Soldiers organizes weekend retreats during which professional songwriters are paired with veterans and active duty service members who share stories about their experiences of combat and then return home. Working collaboratively, the musicians and soldiers turn those stories into songs. Smith calls the project “the most scary, and beautiful work I’ve ever done.”
